Do You Have Multiple Cat Litter Boxes? You Should Use Pine Pellets for Cat Box
72Multiple Cats ... Multiple Litter Boxes
I have three cats. They are my babies, since in a lesbian relationship we don't have children of our own right now. Though we are working on that too! However, about a year ago, I realized that with three cats in my tiny one bedroom apartment, I needed more than one cat litter box. This means more maintenance.
Anyone who has cats ... one or many ... know that cat urine is awful. It is something I just can't deal with. I am also a person who prefers not to scoop the box. I just like to dump the litter out and start fresh. However, I realized very quickly that not only did I have a smelly cat apartment, I also had very unhappy cats.
So, when I was shopping for cat litter, I skipped the cheap bag of clumping generic brand cat litter and put my money into a smaller bag of something new.
Feline Fresh Scoopable Cat Litter
The reason that I don't like to scoop the cat litter is that its messy and smelly. I tend to have a really bad gag reflex and its just too inconvenient for me to scoop the litter box. So with the increase of cats, I get the increase of litter boxes and for crying out loud, that means I have a worse time cleaning up after them!
See, cats are independent creatures and I love that. They cuddle when I want them to and they play on their own when I have other things to do. Like write hubs. *wink wink* Except, that when you have cats, unless you have a very talented cat and a lot of time to train them, they don't use the toilet like a person, they have a box of sand or other assorted bits that you, as their human have to clean.
I was dubious about this new litter. It was different, it was a little more money than I wanted to pay. I was used to paying four dollars for 30 pound bag of generic litter. Except that I had wash the litter pans and the yucky stuff sticks to the pan. I don't know about anyone else, but my cats shred the litter box liners, so they are worthless. This new cat litter was ten dollars for seven pound bags.
What the heck was I thinking!? Right? In this economy, I was sure I was going to waste my money.
No Money Wasted
The Feline Fresh Scoopable Cat Litter is made up of all natural pine pellets. They are four times more odor causing liquids. For those of you who are trying to go green in this day and age, its biodegradable, flushable and scoopable. The pellets absorb the liquid and disolve and it clumps the lumps of yuck for scooping.
As I said before, I am not a scooper. However, I thought I would try it with the new litter. This is because I noticed after a week or so, that I still did not smell the ick of the cat boxes. When I went to scoop, I was not hit with that wave of amonia that you usually get when scooping, instead, when I riffled through the pine to get those clumps, I got a pine scent.
Not only that, but the liquid and the clumps did not stick to the bottom of the box. I was astounded by the difference. With this pine litter, you don't have to change it as often. You use a thin layer of pine and scoop it out until the pellets are dissolved and then you dump it out and start over. The pellets expand and double the amount as it absorbs.

I am so glad that I have invested in these pellets. Recently the store I went to get my cat litter has decided not to carry the litter any longer. I was incredibly sad. I can't tell you where to get it and the shipping is outrageous online. But, if you can find it in a store or online at decent prices, its worth it!
Not only will you be happy, your cats will be happy as well!

I will forward this to my cat owning relatives (my wife is allergic, so we have no pes, but if we could, it would be cats)
Really nicely written hub. I liked the addition of the pictures, since I am a cat person. I hate, hate hate to change those litter boxes!
I've used pine litter before during its earliest incarnation and did *not* like it. However, I've been thinking about trying it again. I just might. We have four cats and you can imagine it gets messy when you aren't a scooper!
Aww, I have a black cat just like you. Nice hub.
We have one cat, and one litter box.
